## Meet Chimera & Johnny Knoxville 🐐🐐

Chimera and her son Johnny Knoxville are a bonded mother-and-son pair looking for a patient and understanding home where they can continue building confidence at their own pace.

The pair came into our care after being picked up by a ranger and taken to the pound alongside five other goats. We suspect the group had very little positive interaction with people prior to arriving, as they were all extremely nervous and wary of humans.

Johnny Knoxville arrived as a teen, estimated to be around 8-9 months old and is always glued to mum. While many of the goats from the group have become increasingly comfortable around humans, Chimera remains our spookiest and most suspicious girl. She likes to keep a careful eye on everything happening around her and prefers to assess situations from a safe distance.

That said, Chimera has been making steady progress. She has recently started accepting treats thrown to her, which is a huge milestone for a goat who once wanted nothing to do with people. We have no doubt that with time, patience, and consistency, she will continue to blossom into a wonderful companion.

Johnny Knoxville has inherited a little more confidence than his mum. While still cautious, he's curious about people and will tentatively approach for treats, especially if he sees other goats in the group doing the same. Watching him gently encourage his mum while also taking his own brave steps forward has been incredibly rewarding.

As rangeland goats, Chimera and Johnny Knoxville will need a home with excellent fencing. Goats are clever, athletic animals, and secure fencing is essential to keep them safe. They will also need plenty of shelter from the weather, access to roughage and browse, and adopters who understand that trust takes time to build.

Both goats are up to date with vaccinations, worming, and lice treatments and are ready to find a home that will appreciate them for exactly who they are. They need to be adopted into a home with existing goats or with some of their buddies to help Chimera feel safe.

**Please note:** Goats require secure fencing, reliable shelter from the elements (goats absolutely hate rain!), and access to plenty of roughage and browse to keep them healthy and happy.

If you have the patience to let a shy goat learn that the world isn't so scary, and would love a sweet young sidekick along for the journey, Chimera and Johnny Knoxville may be the perfect pair for you.
