Meet Asterix & Banjo 🐐🐐
Asterix and Banjo are two handsome boys with very different stories, but one thing in common: they're looking for a forever home where they can continue their friendship and finally settle into the stable, happy lives they deserve.
Asterix has been part of the Strong Hearts family for more than five years. He originally arrived alongside a group of goats suffering from severe mobility issues, and we wanted to keep the friends together for as long as possible. Earlier this year, after years of love and care, Asterix sadly lost his longtime companions. While it was heartbreaking to say goodbye, Asterix has since found comfort in an unexpected friendship with young Banjo.
Sweet, curious, and always hoping there might be snacks involved, Asterix is the kind of goat who likes to know exactly what you're doing. If you enter his paddock, don't be surprised to find him checking your pockets or investigating your bucket in case you've brought him a tasty treat.
Banjo's journey to sanctuary life has been far more complicated. He was originally caught from the wild and given as a wedding gift to people who, unfortunately, didn't have the land or facilities needed to keep a goat. When they planned to return him, it became clear that his future was uncertain, with plans for him to eventually be raised for meat. Thankfully, one of our wonderful previous adopters stepped in and gave him a chance. Sadly, circumstances meant they couldn't keep him long term, and Banjo eventually found his way to us.
Given such an unsettled start to life, it's no surprise that Banjo can be a little shy and cautious. Despite this, he is an incredibly curious young goat who wants to be involved in whatever is happening. The familiar rattle of a feed bucket is often enough to bring him trotting over, eager to see if treats are on offer. With time, patience, and the confidence he gains from Asterix's friendship, Banjo continues to come out of his shell.
Together, the boys make a lovely pair. Asterix brings confidence, curiosity, and experience, while Banjo contributes youthful energy and a gentle eagerness to learn that people can be trusted.
Both boys are castrated and up to date with vaccinations, worming, lice treatments, and hoof trims.
**Please note:** Goats require secure fencing, a warm and dry shelter (they absolutely hate rain!), and plenty of roughage and browse to keep them healthy and happy.
If you're looking for a pair of charming boys with plenty of personality and a friendship that's helped both of them thrive, Asterix and Banjo could be the perfect addition to your family.
